You're responsible for how personal data flows through your organisation's technology. But how much of that technology do you actually understand?

Trackers. SDKs. Fingerprinting. Network requests. Consent mechanisms. You've read about them. You've seen the terms in DPAs and audit reports. You may have nodded along in meetings where developers explained what was happening.

But could you explain it back? Could you challenge it?

Damnjan Jovanovic is a Berlin-based developer who has spent years doing something unusual: teaching privacy professionals and lawyers how the technology actually works. Not to turn them into developers. But to make them dangerous in the right way — able to understand what their tech teams are telling them, spot what doesn't add up, and ask the questions that matter.

In this session, Damnjan will walk through the core technologies behind data collection and tracking — live, with real examples, in language that assumes no technical background. What cookies actually do. How fingerprinting identifies a user without cookies. What third-party code (SDKs) does once it's inside your product — and why even the developers who put it there often don't fully know.

We'll look at how these technologies behave differently in mobile apps compared to browsers, and why the shift to mobile makes privacy governance harder in ways most organisations haven't caught up with yet.
